Ferrari Luce: Full Specs, Price, Range and Release Date for Ferrari’s First Electric Car

It spent years in development under the working name Elettrica. It arrived in May 2026 as the Ferrari Luce — ‘light’ in Italian — and it is the most consequential car Maranello has ever revealed: Ferrari’s first fully electric production model, its first five-seater, and a clean-sheet answer to the question the entire industry has been asking. Here are the full specifications, pricing expectations, and what comes next.

Full Specifications

The Luce is built on Ferrari’s first ground-up electric platform, with four permanent magnet synchronous motors — one per wheel — developed from the company’s motorsport and F80 hybrid experience. Combined output is 1,050 cv (roughly 1,035 horsepower), delivered through fully independent torque vectoring at each corner. The headline performance figures: 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, a top speed of 310 km/h (about 193 mph), and a curb weight of 2,260 kg — heavy by Ferrari standards, remarkable by quad-motor EV standards.

Battery, Range, and Charging

Energy comes from a 122 kWh battery pack on an 800-volt architecture, good for a claimed 530 km (around 329 miles) of WLTP range. The 800V system enables the rapid charging and sustained-performance thermal behavior this class demands — Ferrari’s stated goal being repeatable performance rather than one-lap party tricks, with regenerative braking tuned to feel like engine braking rather than an appliance.

A Different Shape of Ferrari

The Luce is a four-door, five-seat grand tourer — deliberately not an electric supercar. Ferrari is protecting its mid-engined icons from the EV question rather than answering it with one: the 296, F80, and the V12 cars keep their identities intact while the Luce opens an entirely new lane, much as the Purosangue did. The design has already split opinion — a futuristic GT silhouette that abandons familiar Ferrari proportions — and Maranello’s response is characteristically blunt: performance comes first.

The Jony Ive Cabin

The interior is the Luce’s boldest bet: an interface developed with Sir Jony Ive and his LoveFrom collective, using OLED displays created with Samsung Display. The stated philosophy was to avoid the generic screen-slab EV cabin — blending analog emotion with digital precision, with thousands of small interaction details engineered for intuition rather than spectacle. It is the first Ferrari cabin shaped by the designer who shaped the iPhone, and it will influence every Ferrari interior that follows.

The Sound: Real, Not Synthetic

Ferrari’s answer to the EV sound problem is a patented system that amplifies the car’s genuine drivetrain vibrations — captured by a precision accelerometer on the rear axle — rather than playing synthesized engine audio through speakers. Every sound the Luce makes originates in its actual mechanicals. For a brand whose identity is acoustic as much as mechanical, this was the single riskiest engineering decision in the program, and Ferrari chose authenticity over theater.

Price and Release Date

US pricing is expected to start around $640,000 before options and personalization — positioning the Luce above the Purosangue and squarely in bespoke-commission territory. First customer deliveries are expected in 2027, with allocation conversations already underway at dealers. If the Purosangue launch is any guide, demand will outrun supply regardless of the debate around the design.

What It Means for the Market

The Luce is an identity decision, not just a product decision. If Maranello’s magic transfers beyond combustion, Ferrari secures its next fifty years — and every combustion Ferrari on our last naturally aspirated V12s list becomes more precious by contrast, exactly as air-cooled 911s appreciated when Porsche went water-cooled. Watch the first deliveries, the first drives, and the first resale numbers in 2027: they will tell us whether the electric era has room for a prancing horse.

The Ferrari Luce is Ferrari’s first fully electric car: a four-door, five-seat grand tourer with four electric motors producing 1,050 cv, 0–100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, a 310 km/h top speed, and 530 km of WLTP range from a 122 kWh battery. Revealed in May 2026 after development as the ‘Elettrica’, it is expected to start around $640,000 with deliveries beginning in 2027.
