The three-pointed star has spent more than a century on grilles, steering wheels and wheel caps. In Dubai, it is about to go on a neighborhood.
Mercedes-Benz and Dubai developer Binghatti are planning a twelve-tower residential district in the Meydan area called Mercedes-Benz Places Binghatti City. Mercedes calls it the world’s first Mercedes-Benz branded city. The project was announced in December 2025 and given a full public launch in January 2026, so this is not breaking news. What has changed is the scale of the idea. A carmaker that once lent its name to a single tower now wants it on an entire neighborhood.
For car people, that raises an obvious question. When you buy into a Mercedes-Benz address, what do you actually get beyond the badge?
First, which Mercedes-Benz building is this?
There are now three Mercedes-Benz Places projects, and they are easy to confuse.
- Downtown Dubai. The original. A 65-story residential tower near the Burj Khalifa, also built with Binghatti, which Mercedes-Benz says is under development.
- Miami. Mercedes-Benz’s first U.S. real-estate project, developed with JDS Development Group. As of December 2025, Mercedes said construction was progressing and sales were active.
- Binghatti City, Meydan. The new one, and the subject here: a planned district of twelve towers rather than a single landmark.
The distinction matters because the projects are frequently blended in marketing. Some advertising for Binghatti City has borrowed the “world’s first Mercedes-Benz branded residences” line. By Mercedes-Benz’s own account, the first project in the program was the Downtown tower. The superlative Mercedes attaches to Binghatti City is different: first branded city. Buyers comparing listings should make sure the specifications, floor plans and delivery dates they are reading belong to the right building.

What Mercedes-Benz actually brings
Mercedes-Benz is not the builder. Binghatti is the developer, and this is Binghatti’s first master-planned community. Mercedes describes its contribution in terms of design and brand experience. In its announcement, the company said the project was created with its leading design minds and carries the design language it calls “Sensual Purity.”
In plain terms, Sensual Purity is the philosophy behind the smooth, lightly creased surfaces of modern Mercedes cars. The idea is to let a few clean, sculpted shapes do the work instead of stacking up lines and ornament. Translated to architecture, that means rounded, flowing forms and facades meant to read as one gesture. In the official rendering above, the towers rise in a graduated line toward one taller spiraling tower, which Binghatti calls the development’s signature centerpiece.
The car connection goes beyond styling language. Binghatti says one building will be called the Vision Iconic tower, after the Mercedes concept car of the same name that was shown at the January launch event. Binghatti describes the concept as inspired by 1930s automotive design. It is a neat bit of brand theater: a building named after a show car that is itself a love letter to the past.
What the badge does not mean is just as important. Nothing in the official material says Mercedes-Benz guarantees the construction, manages the buildings or stands behind returns. Those responsibilities sit with the developer and whatever management structure is put in place.
Mercedes-Benz Places Binghatti City: from one tower to a district
The jump in scale is the real story. Binghatti’s own area guide puts the project at more than 13,000 homes across twelve towers. Binghatti values the development at AED 30 billion, about $8.2 billion at the dirham’s fixed rate of 3.6725 per dollar.
Even the land area depends on which document you read. Mercedes-Benz’s December 2025 release put the district at 9 million square feet. Binghatti’s January 2026 launch release said more than 10 million. Neither explains the difference, and until one does, treat the size as approximate.
The planned community features follow the template of a self-contained district. Mercedes describes retail boulevards, parks, wellness and sports zones, and dining and community spaces, with the goal of putting daily needs within walking distance. Binghatti’s centerpiece is a large central park it calls the Grand Promenade, planned as a sequence of twelve distinct experiences. All of these are developer and brand descriptions of plans, not facilities anyone can visit yet.
The market position has shifted too. The Downtown tower is a skyline trophy. Mercedes-Benz Places Binghatti City is pitched much wider. Binghatti lists residences from studios to five-bedroom homes, with the four- and five-bedroom units in the Vision Iconic tower. Its project page listed a starting price of AED 1,599,999 on October 21, 2026, about $436,000, without saying which unit that figure applies to. A Mercedes-Benz address is no longer priced only for the very top of the market.
The automotive test
This is where an enthusiast should look hardest, and where the official material says the least.
Mercedes-Benz says the masterplan will include “mobility hubs” and that the Places concept offers residents access to “advanced mobility solutions.” Those are the only car-related commitments we found in the primary sources. As of October 21, 2026, we found no publicly documented detail on parking allocation per residence, EV charging at each tower, secure or climate-controlled storage for collector cars, a vehicle concierge or any Mercedes-specific service for owners. Binghatti’s own area guide lists taxis, ride-hailing apps and a metro station about 15 minutes away under transportation.
That does not mean those features will not exist. It means they have not been specified publicly. Anyone buying into Mercedes-Benz Places Binghatti City because of the car connection should ask for parking, charging and storage provisions in writing for their specific tower. Collectors who want their cars to be the center of the house, not a theme, already have a different product built for that in the U.S.: the garage condo.
What is still unknown
Binghatti says Mercedes-Benz Places Binghatti City will be delivered in three phases, but its project page does not publish a handover date, and the property listings we reviewed give differing ones. Service charges, building management and the exact amenity list for each tower have not been published in the primary sources either. Until they are, those are questions for the sales contract, not assumptions.
Why it matters
Branded residences used to be about lending a famous name to one building. Mercedes-Benz is testing whether its identity can stretch across an entire neighborhood and a much broader range of buyers. The design language is real and visible in the renderings. The car-specific promises, so far, are mostly vocabulary.
The useful way to judge a Mercedes-Benz home, then, is the same way you would judge a Mercedes-Benz car. Ignore the star for a moment and look at what you actually get. In Meydan, the answer is still being drawn.
